Mix Mag This Month! Changed My Life...

Recently ive lost my faith in the british music scene. Its falling to the feet of the over hype of the chlid friendly 'New Rave'.

In this months 'Mix Mag' (My New Favourite Electronica Magazine)
There is a section dedicated to how well the british music scene is taking off at the moment...

'Theres something in the air. Call us optimists, but it feels like dance music is gearing up for a golden period like we havent seen in years. This time round the good stuff is homegrown - Brititish clubs and artists are taking chances again. And instead of one dominant sound ruling the clubland, there are scores of different scenes and sounds, from the london pirates with urban house to underground pirates in the midlands to Bristol Dubstep and resurgent hard dance in the south west. Over the next few pages we will fly the flag for the best stuff thats bubbling up across the UK, from Optimo's no rules Glaswegian raves to pioneers like Shakleton and Seamus Haji to the Klaxons' crusade to get the indie kids raving. Its going off in every town. One day future generations will say "This Was Their Finest Hour..."

Realy quite poetic hey?

Ive highlighted the Klaxons for being the main point in my arguement for the downfall of the british music scene before it even had the chance to become underground status. They were recently featured in Q saying that since they had a chart his they want nothing to do with the 'New Rave Scene' because they want to be a chart band. Realy does sum up the whole being of New Rave & all the other types of Indie music that is seeping into the UK charts.

I do agree how ever that Bristol & its 'DubStep' scene is the only scene with some sense of taste! I mean Trip-Hop has been a huge influence over the last decade! Not only influencing British bands but european bands to!

I look to europe as the saviour of music & culture for me! The amount of great music coming out of Paris and Berlin right now is unbelievable. In Paris you've got the Ed Banger crew, plus labels like Kitsune and classics like the almighty Daft Punk, and over in Berlin you've got pretty much every good minimal Techno label in existence. Not only is there a bigger music scene there but also life style is so much better! Electronica truly is ruling the mainland right now!
